The Seducee & The Seducer

Sunday I watched a rerun of Friends where Joey had decided he would take a quick nap in Rachel room because his duck was sick in his. When he tried to get comfortable on her bed, he discovered a book. After he read the first two page he discovered that this book wasn’t just some romance novel but a erotica. Being intrigue he kept reading, but as he read he couldn’t believe Rachel had such a thing. Therefore when Rachel came home he was started to quote things from the reading, at first she didn’t caught on but then she ask where he heard that from he told her it was from here prono. Attempting to deny the genre of the book she changed her mind and decided to embrace it for what it was an erotica. The next day Joey who told Ross about the book, both teased her. So instead of constantly defending the book she decided to change tactics. When Joey and Rachel was home alone she decided she would pursue Joey the women did the man in the book. As she started to seduce Joey, telling him she wanted him and come show me what type of man you really are. Backing out like Rachel knew he would his demeanor changed from cool and in control to sappy like a lost puppy. He couldn’t handle it when she became the hunter and he the prey, but was just fine when things were the other way around away. Therefore my question is why is it that some guys are confident when they are the seducer but when they become a seducee they get scared?

  1. I've seen this episode and it is very interesting to see how the roles are switched. I think one of the main issues is that men like to be in charge of the situation especially when it comes to seduction matters. When they feel out of control of the situation it is almost instinct to get scared and back off. This again plays into stereotypes and how men are supposed to react to situations and how women are usually the res ponder not the ones initiating it.
