Walking Dead

I usually don’t watch too much TV but I do make exceptions for shows
that draw my attention. Zombies, of course, draw my attention. It
wasn’t just the zombies that drew me into the Walking Dead, but the
whole character line up. This is honestly one of only a few shows I
will willingly watch on TV. This past Sunday was the season premier
and they ran all the episodes of the previous season leading up to its
premier. It allowed those of us that forgot some of the details since
we last saw it. Watching all these episodes in one setting (don’t
judge me) it is easy to see the stereotypes and racism that is in the
show. I noticed in small doses it is not that apparent but when you
see it all at once then it becomes much easier to spot. None was more
apparent than the gangbanger Mexicans. It always seems to be the same
Mexicans too. If they are going to keep stereotyping them then at
least mix up the lineup. They are always in some type of group, mainly
in gangs, and they are family oriented. These gangbanging Mexicans
were taking care of old people. Not that caring for the elderly is
bad, but it always seems that the media can’t move away from those
stereotypes. Will this stop me from watching the show? No. Is it good
to note? Probably. I wonder how the people are dealing with the
immigrant zombies that are undoubtedly crossing the border...
