Modern Family: endorsing stereotypes

As I have mentioned earlier, I love the hit show Modern Family and make sure to watch every new episode. Recently I have started noticing that the characters on the show act in very stereotypical ways and do not really show different sides of some characters.
The one character I am specifically focusing on is Cam. Cam is homosexual and living with his partner Mitchell. Cam has always been flamboyant on the show, but I have started to notice that it is almost over the top, trying to hit on as many stereotypes of the gay community as possible. In the shows defense, they are doing it in a very respectful and not to mention, very funny way. Last week is when I really realized all of the stereotypes Cam exhibits on Modern Family. In last weeks episode, Cam and Mitchell were driving somewhere and they were rear ended. The driver who rear ended them got out of the car and told the men that he was going to get his insurance card out of the car and be right back. Instead the driver got back into his car and drove away. When Cam and Mitchell realized that he was driving away, Cam wanted to chase after him and catch him. When Mitchell, who was driving the car, wouldn't chase after him Cam started running with his hands raised up very flamboyantly. The scene was very funny but I while thinking about it, I felt that if that were a real life situation no homosexual man, as flamboyant as he may be, would run after a car with their hands up in the air. Unless you were trying to flag them down!
